We had been waiting to talk about why we chose the name Cinna because, as with most of our foster cats, the name came from a work of fiction, but not one that could be simplified for the blog in an image.
Shortly before we got Cinna, Crystal and I had read the Hunger Games trilogy. I wanted to use the main character’s name, Katniss. Crystal thought this was a bit too corny, and she was probably right. So we settled on Cinna which we say is short for Cinnamon, but it’s not really, it was just better to use that on the SPCA website.
Cinna is actually a male character, but obviously the name works for a female kitten. I wanted to wait until his part in the movie was cast so this could be a much shorter image post, but oh well. It will probably happen tomorrow now that I’m posting this. Here’s hoping it’s Cillian Murphy.
Anyway, that’s where the name came from, and it doesn’t matter anyway because we all know she’s Ruby now!

Cinna has been adopted! Ingrid picker her up yesterday morning. She’s been in her wonderful new home for a day now with her new sister Allegra, also a Torti.
Ingrid also keeps a cat blog, much more involved and informative than this one, called The Conscious Cat. She has already given up update on Cinna, now known as Ruby! Things are going very well, she enjoys running up and down stairs, something she couldn’t do at our place. Resident cat Allegra is still a bit uneasy, but I’m sure they will warm to each other. We look forward to hearing about Ruby in the future on The Conscious Cat.
Hey everyone we might have some news about Cinna. I won’t spoil it except to say that’s it’s pretty awesome news and you’ll know more in a few days. I bet you’ve figured it out already though :-)
